My Neighbor

I've discovered my neighbor is quite kind.

1) A week or so ago I was feeling really lousy, so Matt brought me home a rose bush to cheer me up. :) After a few days of worrying about my rose bush drying out and dying, I decided I was going to have to plant my bush even if I didn't have a shovel (life without a car can be interesting!). So I pulled out the one tool I did have (an edger) and started digging. Thankfully the hole only had to be 2'x 2'x 2'. Mary (my neighbor) came out to see Isaac, to chat, and to learn about my rose bush, AND she was gracious enough not to point out that honestly an edger is NOT the best tool to use for digging holes...

2) Yesterday, I managed to lock Isaac & myself out of the house, and, of course, we were both w/out shoes and coats. Brrrr! I knew waiting for Matt was not an option as it was only 6:30pm and on this rotation sometimes he doesn't get home till midnight. So, I knocked on our neighbor's door. She let me in to her warm house, let me use her phone to call Matt, and told me her own lockout stories so I wouldn't feel so silly. :)

She has twin grand babies that are just about Isaac's age that she often cares for, so we decided we'd let them "play" together some this summer.

In other news:

Al & Patty (our friends & Matt's boss from back when he worked at NIH) gave Isaac a cute blue shirt when we were over for Easter. Our Easter was so busy I didn't manage to get any pics. I'll have to dress him back up so we can have some and pretend we took them on Easter.
